According to a recent survey, Singapore is now the best destination for female expat professionals looking for top salaries.

HSBC’s recent Expat Explorer report has identified Singapore as the premier Asian location for ambitious female expat professionals. In addition, the small city-state is also the best for personal fulfillment and business culture, although it scored lower than Hong Kong in the acquisition of new skills.

Over 70 per cent of respondents agreed Singapore was top dollar for earning top dollars, with formerly popular Hong Kong coming in at just 55 per cent. China followed at 45 percent with South Korea just one point lower, followed by Vietnam at a surprising 42 per cent. As regards the best work culture for female expat professionals, just over half of women who took part in the survey voted for Singapore, whilst Hong Kong lagged behind at 44 per cent, followed by Vietnam at 41 percent and Indonesia and China at 39 and 36 per cent respectively.

Personal fulfillment in the workplace is important to female expats, with Singapore topping the chart yet again at 56 percent, leading China and India at 48 percent and Hong Kong at 47 percent. Hong Kong managed one leading percentage in the ‘acquiring new skills’ sector, with 62 per cent of female expats agreeing, although Singapore’s score was just one per cent lower.

Career progression in China took 73 per cent of the votes, followed by Hong Kong, India, Singapore and Indonesia in that order. Job security, one of the most important aspects of expat professional life, was rated highest in Japan and Taiwan, with Singapore rating second but the remainder of the Southeast Asian destinations as well as China trailing behind. All told, it seems Singapore is everything a female expat professional needs in order to succeed and prosper.
