According to a recent survey, new kid on the expat career block Prague is growing in popularity.

Many expats considering a move overseas to benefit their careers are now considering Prague as a worthwhile destination, especially because of its location at the centre of Europe. In addition, the city is charming and historic, has a strong economy and is now attracting a good number of multinational corporations. In the survey, the Czech Republic ranked first for its job satisfaction, first-class work/life balance and positive career opportunities.

Self-employed expat professionals with an entrepreneurial spirit also thrive in Prague, with the expat population now including many accountants, lawyers and medical specialists. For those happier under a corporate umbrella, the IT and tech sector offers generous salaries and relocation packages as well as a genuine welcome for qualified, innovative expat professionals. Excellent living conditions, lenient tax policies and first-class, inexpensive transportation options are all provided for the brightest and the best.

In addition to the tech sector and self-employment opportunities, the automotive sector plays a large part in the city and country’s economies. Already installed are Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Skoda, and the country itself has a thriving tourism industry due to its natural beauty.The city’s strong economy offers a great quality of life to incomers, with the republic coming 15th out of all world cities in a development and economic progress assessment carried out and published by the World Economic Forum. The Czech Republic itself beat out France, Britain and Japan – no mean feat for a country which, until 1989, was crushed under a communist regime.
