Emigrating to Israel

Emigrating to Israel
A passport that is valid for at least 6 months and a return ticket to your point of origin are the primary requirements in visiting Israel even if you are from a country that does not need a visa for entry into the country. Those who are holding passports with less than 6 moths of validity can be refused entry.

Foreign nationals of certain countries including those from the UK can get tourist visas directly upon their entry into Israel. They could be given permission to stay in the country for a maximum of 3 months although these visas can be extended for a nominal fee at the Ministry of the Interior of Israel. However, nationals of countries that don't have such agreement with the Israeli government should apply for a visa at the Israeli Embassy in their country.

Visitors who are planning to do volunteer work, including moshavim and kibbutzim, should obtain a Volunteer Visa. Your employer can easily get this once you arrive in Israel. However, for those who wish to do other types of work, it has to be remembered that work permits are hard to get in Israel. Foreign students who wish to study in a recognized Israeli educational institution should get a Student Visa that must be signed by the institution where the student intends to study.

You can also gain entry to Israel by virtue of the Law of Return, if you are a Jew.  The purpose of this law is for overseas Jews to be able to re-establish their homes in Israel.
