Manchester is among the top cities in the UK from which people are enquiring about moving to New Zealand, revealed consultancy company The Emigration Group.

The firm, which advises UK citizens on emigrating down under and the visas needed, has taken more than 3,000 enquires over the past six months, and more than 300 of them had been from Mancunians.

The Emigration Group director Paul Arthur noted that the northwestern city had long since been an emigration hotspot, so a booming economy in New Zealand was always likely to lead to Mancunians considering packing their bags and moving to the other side of the world.

Arthur pointed out that New Zealand was continually among the most popular countries to emigrate to, but that Australia was consistently top of the rankings in terms of favourite country to move to. However, he explained that interest in New Zealand was continuing to grow, and that they had received loads of enquiries from people from Manchester and other northwestern towns and cities in recent months.

He went on to say there was no doubt about the fact that New Zealand’s economic growth was a huge factor behind people’s willingness to migrate, but noted that they did not up and leave purely for economic reasons, adding that quality of life was also key.
