It now seems that inhumane policies regarding asylum seekers could be driving these people seeking help over the edge. Just last weekend, three members of a family chose to jump to their deaths from a Glasgow tower block. It was said that the Russians had their asylum claims rejected.

Although this kind of story normally does not make national news, it has been made clear that this is not the first time something like this has happened. Apparently 213 asylum seekers, refugees and migrant workers have been murdered in racist attacks or died in some kind of accident since 1989. 57 of these people actually killed themselves. Out of these, nine of them had set themselves on fire (mostly in public places so people could see), and 11 died at their own hands in emigration dentition centers.

So why are these people choosing to end their lives? Well the fact of the matter is that these people feel they have nothing to live for. Just because their asylum claims were rejected does not mean that they came from a nice area. A lot of these people that are fleeing to the UK are doing so, because they are living a harsh life or they fear for their lives. When their claims get shot down after reaching the UK, they will do anything to prevent themselves from having to go back to the kind of lifestyle that they were trying to leave. Thus, a lot of them end up killing themselves.

Currently the UK operates a very harsh asylum system that allows very little hope for people that are trying to flee bad situations. These harsh rules end up crushing peoples’ hopes that send them into a whirlwind of depression.

It now seems that Britain will need more economic emigrants to restore its international competitiveness. The secretary general, Angel Gurria, said that labor emigrants would be needed because of Britain’s aging population and the number of people who are unemployed or who say they are too ill to be working.

He also talked about the Western government’s failure in the regulatory system in the run up to the financial crisis. He said that the UK’s regions could lead the country to economic recovery and a low carbon future. The planet cannot stand this kind of production and consumption patterns any longer.

Britain will have to look at increasing the retirement age and helping young people get back into work. Women will also need to be pushed to have children. Experts said that it’s funny that many Brits simply complain about the emigrants coming over, yet it seems like they do not want to do anything to save themselves. They want the best of both worlds, but that is not how it works.

Of course, colleges in the UK are starting to feel the pressure of lower emigration. Due to new rules regarding overseas students, colleges are nervous about a lack of funding. They go on to state that these overseas students bring a lot of money into the UK, but the UK Border Agency seems almost hell bent on keeping them out. Universities in the UK need these students and the money that they bring from overseas.

Unfortunately for many colleges in the UK, it’s easier for these overseas students to simply study somewhere else in the world, like the United States, than it is to try and get into the UK to study. Some kind of change has to come to the UK in order for it to save itself.

One of the most well known controversial rappers in the United States, Snoop Dogg, has just recently won the latest round in a long running battle with the UK Border Agency. This win allows Snoop Dogg to be allowed to enter into the country yet again.

Snoop Dogg is 38 years ol,d and his real name is Calvin Broadus. He was originally denied entry into the UK back in 2007. This forced him and fellow rapper P Diddy to cancel the British dates of their European tour.

Apparently the ban on Snoop Dogg related to his arrest at Heathrow airport back in 2006, following an altercation involving members of his entourage. In 2008, the ban was lifted when an emigration judge found no evidence that the rapper had been responsible for any kind of public disorder.

However, the UK Border Agency could not leave it at that. This agency went on to challenge the decision, and it went to an asylum and emigration tribunal. Just last week the tribunal announced its decision that to deny Snoop Dogg entry was wrong. The UK Border Agency said that they are disappointed by the tribunal’s decision in the case. They said that they are studying the determination carefully and will make a decision whether to appeal or not.

Snoop Dogg has had a few brushes with the law in recent years. Back in 2007 he pleaded no contest to gun and drugs charges in the United States. The same year he was also barred from entering Australia after failing a character test. Last year he was cleared of assaulting a fan at a 2005 gig in Seattle.

Apparently taxpayers are currently paying millions of pounds in extra benefits to Eastern European emigrations because of new changes to the EU regulation. For the past seven years, emigrants from eight countries were unable to collect benefits in the UK until they have worked in the country for 12 months.

However, as of April 2011, emigrants from Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Slovenia and the Czech Republic will be allowed to claim Job Seekers Allowances and other benefits after just three months. This is, of course, subject to the fact that they can provided the fact that the have been actively seeking work, undergoing training or attending job interviews.

Many other European nations, unlike Britain, have closed their labor markets to these countries. However, Britain allowed them to work on the conditions that went by the Government’s Worker Registration Scheme, which denied them benefits for a year.

So what does this mean overall? Well it means that Eastern European emigrants who enter into Britain will be subject to the very same benefits that are given to well established EU countries like France and Germany. Although there are not any official government figures, the latest academic surveys have suggested that there are now 1.2 million Eastern European nationals living in Britain.

A lot of the former Soviet countries pay a lot lower unemployment benefits than what the UK does. For example, in Latvia, the monthly unemployment allowance is £57.20 compared with the UK’s £200-£256. Thus, there is no mystery to why people are trying to enter into the UK and look for work. It simply pays more to be looking for work in the UK than in other countries.

Pauline Hanson, Australia’s most famously anti-immigration politician, has announced that she is emigrating to Britain, mainly because as her home country allegedly no longer holds any opportunities for her.

Hanson’s revealed the move in an interview with Australian Woman’s Day magazine, where the often controversial and polarising figure detailed the sale of her house in Queensland and desire to bid farewell Australia for good. Hanson told Woman’s Day that this would be her goodbye forever.

Hanson claims her decision was due to a desire for peace and contentment, something that she has found difficult in her political career which has been shaped by her conservative right-wing policies. She is most famous for her maiden parliamentary address where she cautioned that Australia would be overrun by Asians. Hanson herself had also been a leading advocate for reductions in immigration.

The fiery politician went on to suggest that Australia, which once was seen as a land of opportunity, has deteriorated so far that young people now are growing into an over-taxed and over-regulated society which no longer is a true representation of the country. Hanson also cites the timidity of Australia’s politicians to address the real issues as contributing to her departure.

Hanson’s political career has stalled in recent years. She ran as an independent in the 2009 Queensland state elections, where she lost the Beaudesert seat. Hanson had also previously run for a Queensland senate position in 2007 with similar lack of success, leading her to admit that she would not likely be voted into any position in the future.

It seems that recently the UK Border Agency has launched an internal review of itself after a former employee revealed how a staff member sang the Um Bongo advertising jingle to a Congolese asylum seeker. The former employee, Louise Perrett, went on to tell the Commons home affairs select committee that one colleague had asked several young African men to demonstrate shooting to back up their claims they had been child soldiers. Ms Perrett also said that the alleged staff members mocked each other when asylum applications were approved.

One employee sang the offensive Um Bongo song when Perrett told him she was assessing an application from a Congolese woman. Ms. Perrett worked at the UK border Agency’s Cardiff office for three and a half months last summer. She went on to say that she said that it was absolutely horrific and should never be accepted or ignored. Ms. Perrett continued that she asked about the claimants and their thoughts. One employee told her that if they had there way, they would take them all outside and shoot them. She told the employee should not be saying things like that in the office.

Lin Homer, the UK Border Agency chief executive, has confirmed that an inquiry into Ms Perrett’s claims is already underway. Ms Perrett who previously worked on policy development for the Welsh Assembly Government, went on to tell the committee that she had been shocked by the tips she had been given on how to interview asylum seekers. She said that one example of a time was for interviewing young men and children who claim to be former soldiers. The tip was to make them lie on the floor and demonstrate how they would shot someone in the African bush.

Right now it seems that the government thinks that the best new international strategy is to prevent illegal emigration altogether. Westminster sources go on to say that the government is committed to putting emigration at the very heart of international relationships by working even closer with foreign governments. This will allow for the sharing of data and intelligence with enforcement agencies abroad. Overall, this will ensure that developing countries have the skills they need to thrive as well.

This joint international plan of action by the Home Office and Foreign and Commonwealth Officers, now underlines the need to take the fight against human traffickers. In order to stop these foreign criminals, the UK Border Agency has to be able to work overseas. With the ability to fight these foreign criminals before they ever enter the UK, the amount of illegal emigration should fall sharply.

Phil Woolas, the Border and Emigration minister, said that about three quarters of the world’s population now needs a visa to come to Britain. UK Border Agency officers are working in 135 different countries to stop organized criminals in their tracks before they ever make it to the UK. Law enforcement agencies must work hand-in-hand in regards to emigration.

Pretty much, the thought is that emigration may not be as big of a problem in the UK if the UK Border Agency is able to stop a lot of the illegal emigration. As of right now, the UK is really cracking down on emigrants and offering up a whole bunch of new rules to limit the number of people that come to the UK. However, these new rules do nothing to stop illegal emigrants.

Apparently the European Union is struggling to unify its policies across its member states. This has all led to an uneven approach to emigration. Bjarte Vandvik, the secretary general of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles said it best by saying that it’s like an asylum lottery. If people go to Finland, then they get to stay. However, if they go to Greece, they have no chance.

The overall number of asylum requests in the European Union has dropped sharply since the early 1990’s. However, conflicts, such as those in Afghanistan and Somalia, still drive up numbers from certain countries. One very vulnerable group that is affected by these uneven policies is Afghan children. There numbers have risen sharply over the past two years.

Many campaigners from human rights and refugees agencies acknowledge that not all of these children should be granted asylum in the European Union. Some may have fled for economic reasons. Others tell stories that suggest that smugglers brought them into these countries.

Mr Vandvik went on to say that they have a lot of children coming from extremely volatile situations. These children that are coming to Europe have no other safeguards. That should be the focus for how European governments individually and collectively approach this problem.

The European Union went on to say that they are working to correct this problem. An action plan on unaccompanied minors is expected under the current, Spanish European Union presidency. The Sweden minister for emigration and asylum policies, Tobias Billstrom, said that under the Swedish presidency in the second half of 2009, the bloc built on earlier efforts to forge a common emigration and asylum policy.
