UK Border Agency Hired Illegal Emigrants

New reports now show that the Home Office and UK Border Agency employed illegal emigrants. So far, ten foreign workers illegally obtained jobs at Becket House. This is the south London headquarters of the UK Border Agency.

Two more illegal emigrants somehow managed to find work at the Home Office's Whitehall Headquarters. One of the illegal workers was actually employed as a security guard. Hundreds more have been employed at 34 local authorities and 54 NHS trusts across all of the UK.

These new reports came as a big blow to Alan Johnson, who is the Home Secretary. He had just recently admitted that the government has been inept over its handling of emigration. This also comes following the scandal over Attorney General Baroness Scotland, who was fined £5,000 last year for employing Loloahi Tapui, a Tongan illegal immigrant, as a housekeeper.

This data gives details of people who have been employed since 2006 at government departments, councils, and hospitals. 12 people - 11 Nigerians and one Ghanaian - were employed by the Home Office. Ten worked at the UK Border Agency as cleaners and two at the office where Alan Johnson works - one a chef and the other a security guard at the front door, who had been a security guard for 19 months before it was uncovered that he was an illegal emigrant.

Eight of the 12 men have since been deported. Three are detained pending appeals and one has been granted leave to remain in the country. However, this little event has many people in the UK wondering how the UK Border Agency hopes to control illegal emigrants if they are employing them themselves.
