In attempt to increase the tourism market Ecuador has decided on Wednesday to no longer require visitors from foreign countries to obtain a visa in order to come in to the country. This decision was made by the president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa. The order handed down from Correa was to waive all visa requirements for any foreign visitor from any country to begin on June 20th, 2008. This information was posted from the presidency website of Ecuador Wednesday morning.

The posting on the website was also followed up by a statement which was released by the Foreign Ministry of Ecuador which stated that with new order will provide any foreign visitor the right to stay inside Ecuador for a period of ninety days without ever needing to apply for a visa.

The order which is expected to boost their local economy by attracting more visitors also is a step to put the idea of free circulation into practice. This idea focuses around creating stronger bonds with all countries in the world by allowing anyone to visit with little hassle. The change in the visa laws will impact over 130 different countries that today need to apply for a visa in order to enter the country.  Many hotels and tourist locations in Ecuador expect this change to help boost their economy by providing a hassle free location for tourists looking for a foreign escape.

President Correa was elected into office in 2006 on the platform of promoting change to their current policies as well as put an end to political bickering.
