Minister claims UK ignoring white workers

A cabinet minister has declared that Britain’s working class white people are ignored by government bodies. The claim comes from the Communities Secretary John Denham who said that authorities have become blinded to the needs of real Brits.

Denham further called upon both local and national government to address inequalities in immigration policy that applies to ethnic minorities as well as poor white people. The minister argued that a sense of unfairness and insecurity pervades areas where immigration is high due to strains placed upon resources and jobs. This in turn may result in increased resentment and tension reasoned Denham, who also suggested that local agencies are lacking in clear commitment to addressing the race issue and are quite within their rights to do so.

While Denham has made headlines for allegedly singling out white workers he was clear in his statement that disadvantage ethnic minorities are suffering as much as their white community counterparts. Denham said that authorities must challenge existing thinking and practices and develop a new strategy to tackles all forms of disadvantage and inequality. This would mean that agencies that have previously been supposedly blind to certain issues would need a thorough reassessment of the way they operate.

Earlier this month Prime Minister Gordon Brown stated that talking about racism was not racist. Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary, also went on record to say that he believed that the Labour party had done little to address immigration concerns.

In his speech, made at the Trade Union Congress, Mr Denham said that making legislation that was clear and fair would reduce the risk of exploitation and distortion.
