Concerns Raised over Emigration Staff Bonuses
The chairman of Home Affairs, Keith Vaz, said that it was just astonishing that staff members were paid £295,000 last year despite new revelations about abandoned case files. A review of files at the UK Border Agency revealed almost 40,000 cases where officials had no formal record of emigrants leaving. Most of these cases were over six years old.
Mr Vaz, who is also the Labour MP, said that he was very concerned about the high number of errors that have been discovered in asylum backlog files. Of the 450,000 files uncovered three years ago, 220,000 have been dealt with. However, the committee discovered that 88,500 files marked as concluded, which is more than a third of the total, were found to contain errors.
Many people are becoming upset with the UK Border Agency's way of handling things. Right now in the UK, two of the biggest issues being talked about are emigration and energy. Some experts say that it appears that the UK is making progress in one of these areas, and it's not emigration. Others have said that both issues seem to be at a stand still and are just going to continue to be a growing concern.
