Britons Say UK Emigration is a Problem

It now seems that Brits are saying that UK emigration is becoming a problem. A new survey on eight countries shows that British people are the only people in western Europe that want emigration controlled at the national, rather than European, level. This comes despite having very little confidence in the national authority's handling of current issues.

The poll that was taken goes on to suggest that Brits are more anti-emigration and xenophobic than the rest of western Europe. The polls suggest that Brits prefer UK policies and continue to blame emigrants for unemployment.

One in every five Britons, which is twice the European average, thought that emigration was the most important issue facing their country. Only the Italians came close to sharing this kind of view point. Two out of every three Brits, which is more than in all the other countries surveyed, thought that emigration was more of a problem than an opportunity.

The survey was done in six western European countries including Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and France. The survey also took place in the United States and Canada. The results showed that 71 percent of Germans thought that their government was doing a good job managing emigration. This just so happened to be the same percentage of Brits that felt their government was performing poorly on the matter.

Overall, the survey showed that Brits were skeptical over the European Union's responsibility for emigration. A majority of people, 53 percent, wanted the power to be kept at a national level. This is almost double the European average of 28 percent.
