UKBA crackdowns on illegal workers in Lincolnshire

Some 17 illegal workers have been caught in the latest UK Border Agency raids across Lincolnshire as the agency continues its campaign of targeting rogue employers.

The UKBA has made a very public fight to seek out and close down those who lure illegal migrants to the UK for illegal jobs.

On November 20th in the early evening officers from the UKBA’s team based in Boston raided the India Garden restaurant at the Sleaford Market Place where the undertook immigration status checks of all employees.

Four men from Bangladesh and one from India were discovered to have no permission to work inside the UK. The illegal Indian worker claimed that he was in fact a sailor but had fled from his ship while it was docked in 2008 in the K

Elsewhere, UKBA officers raided the Hung Wang Chinese restaurant in Gainsborough on the 18th of November where they discovered six illegal workers, three men and three women, all of Chinese origin. One of the women even attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by supporting oficers from the Lincolnshire police outside the building.

Officials conducted a search of the building which uncovered a variety of forged documents of identity inside a handbag belonging to one of the women. £2,900 in cash was also discovered and seized by authorities under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

On the 11th of November Florentino’s Pizzeria in Market Street was raided with two Iranian men, both failed asylum seekers, arrested by UKBA officers. Moonlight Tandoori restaurant on Trinity Street was also arrested with a further three arrests made.

A total of 17 illegal workers are now facing deportation from the UK as soon as possible.
