Gordon Brown Says Worrying About Emigration is not Racist

It seems that Prime Minister Gordon Brown has come out and told people that are worried about emigration in the UK, that this is no longer a racist subject. In Brown's first speech on the emigration subject for two years he said that he has never agreed with the lazy elitism political correspondent that just dismisses emigration issues. He also does not agree with anyone that has concerns about emigration being a racist topic.

Gordon Brown went on to add that emigration is not a taboo subject as some people would like to make it out to be. Gordon feels that this is a question to be dealt with at the heart of politics and a question about what it means to be British.

Brown has already unveiled a series of measures to control the flow of emigrants into the UK. He noted that these new measures would ensure that Britain's population stayed below the 70 million mark predicted by official figures for 2029. He also announced a review of the student visas in order to clamp down on those applying to study in the UK with the intention of working illegally.

Gordon Brown also announced plans for a reduction in the number of posts on the government's list of occupations for which the UK needs to recruit from abroad. This means that more jobs would be free for British workers. This does include job classes like hospital consultants, ship officers, aircraft engineers, and civil engineers. The amount of time that employers will have to advertise jobs in Britain before looking abroad will also be extended from two weeks to four.
