Murdering migrant nanny bribed to return home

A nanny described as sadistic and evil for her horrifying slaughter of a toddler has been sent home to Malaysian with a pocketful of taxpayers’ money.

GBP 4,500 in cash was provided to 29-year-old immigrant Agnes Wong, who was initially served with a 5-year jail sentence in 2008 for killing a 17-month-old child that she was minding. She was found guilty of murdering Hugo Wang by swinging the baby around by his ankles and smashing his head which caused massive brain trauma.

However, Wong was released from prison in July and just two weeks ago was placed on an airplane bound for home with a sizeable amount of spending money.

The payout itself has caused massive outrage among the opposition, with Damian Green, the Conservative immigration spokesperson, labeling the government’s decision as appalling. Green lambasted authorities who found it possible to reward and immigrant child killer with taxpayers’ money.

Agnes Wong was unregistered as a child-minder in the UK since her arrival in 2003. She was receiving a weekly salary of GBP 120 to care for baby Hugo at her Salford home whiles his parents were at work. Inside her house she terrorised the child, including using household appliances such as hairdryers as weapons.

Hugo Wong died in January 2007. The autopsy revealed that his death was caused by internal bleeding in the brain. He was also showing burn and bite marks.

Wong denied the murder charges but was jailed anyway, for just two-and-a-half years. Her return to Malaysia was under legislation in the controversial Facilitated Returns Scheme which provides a cash bonus to foreign offenders to leave.

The UK Border Agency has defended the scheme saying that they in no way want foreign criminals on British shores.
