In an attempt to attract many highly skilled laborers from the UK, the government of Queensland with the help of many other Australian territories has set out on a trip across the UK to promote their homeland. The informational road show consisted already of stops at Glasgow as well as Manchester in the first few days of June. The stops focused on showing how Australia could offer the UK citizens better chances for employment as well as a general better life if they were willing to up and move to the Queensland. The road show and information presented is on behalf of Australia’s immigration authority, Migration and Skills Recruitment.
The goal of the road show, according to Desley Boyle who works at the Queensland Minister for Tourism, is to work alongside of potential migrants and provide all the information a person could need to know about immigration opportunities in Australia including its features and benefits that go with each state. Helping to attract migrants to the Queensland is Australia’s General Skilled Migration program which offers a wide range of skilled migrants an opportunity to apply for a permanent visa as well as sponsorship by a specific state or territory.
In addition to the road show, a free migration assessment form was created online for any potential migrant to fill out. The form will provide someone a rough estimate if they will qualify for a visa as well as learn more about what it takes to make the move.
