Government report shows 700 immigrants allowed in each day
According to the latest government findings the number of immigrants has nearly doubled under the Labour leadership.
The report reveals that since Messrs Blair and Brown have been at the helm the number of migrant arrivals into Britain has reached three million in total. This equates to over 700 every day. The percentage of immigrants in the UK is now over 10% with the population’s 60.4 million inhabitants being comprised of 6.6 million immigrants.
In 2001 the ration of foreign-born residents was 1 in 13. The latest figures show the ration is now 1 in 10.
The report was commissioned by the government and undertaken by the research group Oxford Economics. Its release has led to widespread criticism of the Labour government which has been accused of allowing immigration to run rampant. A spokesperson for study group Migrationwatch UK claimed that the statistics represent the lack of a clear policy on behalf of labour when it was voted into power.
The result has been increasing pressure on schools and services as the forecast is for a continued wave of immigration over the next few years. The Office of National Statistics has predicted that the UK population will reach 70 million by 2030 with migrants numbering 7 million.
Shadow immigration minister Damian Green claimed a conservative led Britain would reintroduce a quota system and keep a cap on immigrant numbers. Green pointed out the under Labour immigration had almost doubled in the 12-year period.
The report does not take into account figures for illegal immigrants.
