Two arrested in Bus Depot raids

Two men have been targeted by the UK Border Agency is a recent raid on two bus depots in Kent. One man was deported from Britain immediately while a second faces charges of being in possession of falsified identity documents.

The first man was arrested at the Northfleet bus terminal last month, near Gravesend. It was discovered that the man was a failed South African asylum seeker and the UKBA made arrangements for his swift removal from the country.

The second man was arrested at the Dartford bus depot late last month and has since been revealed as another failed asylum seeker, this time from Zimbabwe. The man will appear on the 12th of October at Maidstone’s Crown Court and has been remanded in custody till then. The UKBA said it will move to deport the man after the hearing is held.

The two men had been in the employment of Arriva, one of the largest transport organisations in the UK. A spokesperson for Arriva claimed they were not aware of the status of the two African men; however they did advise that they were working together with UKBA officials at both bus depots.

The UKBA stated that such arrests and very public deportations show that the agency is not afraid to take every measure to ensure a safe working Britain.
