UK Border Agency Rejects Emigrants From The Jungle
Either way, French officials have already chosen to shut down this campsite imminently. It has been known for a long time that many illegal emigrants live in this small camp, waiting for a chance to board a lorry that is making its way to the UK so that they can sneak on board..
The UK Border Agency said that genuine asylum seekers should make their claims in the country where they enter Europe from. A spokesman for the agency went on to say that the people seeking asylum should do so in the first safe country they came to. The people who are not in need of protection will be expected to return home right away.
The UK Border Agency also noted that the decision to close this illegal camp in Calais is a matter for the French government, and they will continue to cooperate with the French government in any way that they can. The agency feels that people have to work together to tackle illegal immigration.
The camps that have been set up have replaced official centers in places like Sangatte as a gathering point for emigrants hoping to cross into the UK. Almost 1,500 of these people are from places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
