10 year ban for Nigerian visa fraud
10 year ban for Nigerian visa fraud
To assist Nigerian officers of the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian Police Force the British High Commission has recently donated equipment and a vehicle to aid in tackling offenders. Now U.K immigration has announced the immediate placing of a 10-year travel ban to anyone caught attempting to enter the U.K illegally from Nigeria.
At a meeting where the new provisions were handed over in Lagos, the High Commission said the most important aspect of the new measures was the need for partnership and a strong working relationship on both sides. High Commission spokesperson Bob Dewar said the new equipment would enable the local police force to step-up measures aimed at tackling those who continue to manufacture and supply illegal or fraudulent documents. Mr Dewar hoped the new vehicle would assist in effective and targeted exercise aimed at certain individuals and lead to their prosecution.
The High Commission claimed that their message was simple; the U.K will welcome any legitimate applicant who can provide benefit via tourism, business or study. The message for those intending to do so illegitimately was also made clear with the imposition of the decade long ban.
