UK Border Agency Fines Restaurant for Three Illegal Emigrants

It seems that many restaurants in the UK have still not learned their listen as the UK Border Agency continues its crack down on illegal emigrants working within its boarders. It now appears that an Aberdeen takeaway had to close for the evening and could even be facing big fines after three illegal emigrants were found employed there.

The UK Border Agency chose to visit the New Chinese Garden on Victoria Road acting on intelligence that it had received. The UK Border Agency raided the restaurant around 6pm on September 8th.

The UK Border Agency found one Chinese woman and two Chinese men working illegally at the restaurant. These illegal workers were found after checks were done on all workers at the restaurant. The three went on to be interviewed by the emigration office, and steps were placed into affect to remove them from the UK very quickly.

After the three employees were taken away, the shop had to be closed as there was not enough staff left to operate it. The restaurant was then served with its Notice of Potential Liability for employing the illegal emigrants. The employer has to be able to prove that he did the proper checks on the workers before hiring them in order to avoid a heavy fine. Right now the fine is £10,000 per illegal worker.

The UK Border Agency said that they are willing to work with companies to make sure that they do all the proper checks on their workers before they are hired. However, the UK Border Agency is in the middle of cracking down on emigration, thus, those who do not do the proper checks stand a good chance of being caught.
