UK Forces Married Canadian Woman Out of the Country
Rochelle Wallis, who is 19 years old, married Adam Wallis from Ceredigion back in November of 2008. This marriage took place two years after the two meet each other. However, now she has been told that she must return back to Canada and that she is not to come back to the UK until she is 21 due to the new emigration laws.
This 19-year-old woman is now the first victim of these new law changes. These law changes however, were made to help protect young British Asian women from being subjected to forced marriages. Although no one is disputing that their marriage is anything but genuine, it does not change the fact that four days after they got married the new emigration rules were brought into affect and, thus, affected them.
Now Wallis is not allowed to stay in Britain because her visitors visa has now expired. This new rule means that she cannot get a visa to live in the UK as a wife of a British person for another two more years and will be forced to return to Canada. Right now this rule applies to everyone under 21 that is from outside Europe who marries a British person.
