Tighter Rules for Foreign Workers

UK officials announced they have increased the regulations concerning potential incoming workers trying to fill job vacancies in Britain.

As of now, all companies based in Britain will be required to show they have not been fill open jobs with a native worker and then show evidence that they have advertised within the UK for the job opening, unless the position has already been approved and placed on the list of shortage occupations. All employers will be required to acquire a license from the UK Border Agency to be able to offer jobs to foreign workers.

Any interested migrant worker must have been issued a job offer from the British company before they can even apply for the visa and then they must meet the requirements of the system.

The Home Office publicized its new guidelines for the restrictions on skilled or temporary workers in the new five tier plan that operates off of acquired points. Two of the new plans, Tier 2 and Tier 5, do away with about a large number of former plans for entry into the UK, including the old work system.

The system will require foreign workers to accumulate a set number of points in different areas. Points are given when the person shows they will be performing a specific skilled job, speak English in a good form and have a required amount of money and that they are qualified and a certain educational level.

Had the new guidelines applied to last year’s applicants, analysis indicates that about ten percent or about 19,000 fewer workers would have been granted visas to enter into Britain for work.
