Illegal Emigrants Enter UK by way of Fake Colleges

MPs are now saying that fake colleges are one of the major things that help illegal emigrants enter the UK. They say that tens of thousands of people have entered Britain on fraudulently obtained student visas.

The parliament's Home Affairs Committee investigated bogus colleges soon after the Times newspaper reported that at least one of every 12 men in counter terrorism raids across northwest England were students at a college that sold fake courses. All off the men were released later without charges, but most of these men still face deportation from Britain.

Ever since the emigration laws were tightened back in March, international students may only apply for a visa if they aren't sponsored by a college registered with the UK Border Agency. The UK Border Agency is responsible for all emigration issues in the UK.

More concerns have already been raised by the Home Affairs committee on the number of illegal emigrants that may have already entered Britain on fraudulent student visas before the rules were tightened up. The committee said that the number of students that have already entered could be as many as tens of thousands.

They go on to say that it is urged that the government takes very firm action against people who have expired student visas and make sure they leave Britain right away. The committee said that they suspected that a significant proportion of the 2,200 colleges that have not won a place on their list of approved colleges were not legitimate. The committee has not, however, found any links between bogus colleges and terrorism.
