New Student Emigration Rules Boycotted
The group of 35 different educational institutions say that they are involved in researching the uses and abuses of state power. They go on to say that being forced to police the overseas students because of new emigration laws is wrong.
Some of the people involved in this boycott are from Liverpool John Moores University. This is the same area that 12 Pakistani national students were arrested, as they were thought to be in some major terror plot.
Some people reported that they have to now report all emigration students to the home office that do not show up for a lecture. They are also required to check all ID's of students who are from other countries that are studying in the UK. The instructors go on to say that they strongly oppose these rules that change the way that most academic institution are run. They feel that, not only are these emigration policies discriminatory, but they also distort academic freedoms.
These instructors go on to say that these new emigration policies for students are not part of their contractual duties. They also noted that they will play no part in these practices that discriminate students.
Another thing that must be done under the new point based emigration system is that all students must now be sponsored by an accredited institution before being given a visa. This is an attempt to help weed out all of the bogus colleges that had been popping up around the UK.
