The New UK Immigration Point Based System
The New UK Immigration Point Based System
This new point based system breaks the immigration system into five different tiers. These five tiers will be replacing the 80 or more current tiers. To fit into one of the tiers, certain conditions and entry requirements will have to be met.
Tier one is for highly skilled migrants. This includes investors, graduate students and, of course, entrepreneurs. Tier two will be used for the skilled workers that already have a job offer, while tier three is limited to lower skilled workers that can fill temporary shortages. Tier four is for students, and tier five will be for temporary workers and youth mobility. As this new point bases system is launched, changes are likely to take place.
Different tiers will be award points for different reasons. For example, tier one and two may award points for age and previous salary, whereas tier four may awards points on grade point average. Some of the requirements that will be in place change for each tier as well. Tiers two though five are required to have some kind of sponsorship from a licensed sponsor. This is to ensure that the immigrant will be able to perform that course of study or job.
As the point based system comes close to being fully lunched, more information will be given out about this new system.
