The visa mix-up has been resolved and Shoaib now as the appropriate visa that will allow him to enter in the UK and play for Surrey now. He is expected to play tomorrow in a championship game versus the Hampshire club. If Surrey does not prevail they will be relegated.
Shoaib Akhtar said “My priority right now is Surrey, I want to go out there and perform. When I run in I want to make sure I take wickets - it will be nice to take some wickets and help Surrey. I have sorted out the visa problem and it is great to be part of such a historic club. I will try my level best.
Shoaib was given permission to participate in the English cricket game to help him regain the physical shape he needs to compete after enduring numerous injuries. Shaqfat Naghmi who is the chief operating office for the Pakistan Cricket Board said of Shoaib that “He has been out of competitive cricket for quite some time and needs to regain his match fitness. We believe a short county stint might help him in doing that. If I can manage to help them win some games it will be such a good thing.”
