Emigration could be the key to saving more money

Many people in the UK are seeing their disposable income shrink as their bills continue to grow.  Among those bills that keep getting larger is the one for petrol.  Among the countries in Europe the UK has the most expensive gas.

Results of a study by uswitch.com were recently released.  It showed that over the last year people have seen their disposable income shrink by up to 15 per cent.  The report did note that the geographical location of a person drastically changed how the increased inflation and other house hold bills affected them.  Some areas like Buckinghamshire were less affected by the increase than places like Nottingham.

The director of consumer policy at uswitch.com, Ann Robinson, noted that “Consumers are in a lose / lose situation where everything is shooting up except their income.  The shock increase in the consumer price index - which has more than doubled in the last six months to over twice its official target - will impact everyone this year.  People now have less money in their pockets than at any point since 1997 and British consumers are facing an autumn of discontent.”

Many people are considering emigrating abroad to escape the pressures from the credit crunch and shrinking budgets.  Those considering emigrating will have other obstacles to face.   Robinson said “With UK emigration on the rise, they could be forgiven for selling up and moving abroad - except they will then be stung by falling house prices and a log jam in the housing market.”
