Protest over illegal immigration held in Arkansas

Monday evening there was an immigration rally held to protest illegal immigration.  The founder of Secure Arkansas, which is a group that is anti illegal immigrants, Jeannie Bulsworth, led the protest and highlighted the major issues in the United States caused by illegal immigrants.  Her words did not sit well with all members in the audience and some chose to leave in the middle of her speech.

Bulsworth said during her speech “I think we are being targeted by the Mexican government.”  By targeted she meant that the United States has approved several programs for illegal immigrants to participate in which may only encourage other illegal immigrants to cross the border.

Also mentioned in her speech were the elected officials who she felt were not doing enough to prevent illegal immigration in the country.  Bulsworth said “Vote ‘em out.  We the people put ‘em in there. We the people can get ‘em out of there.”

She continued by saying “I don’t want to leave the decisions over to the Mexican consulate.  We don’t want to leave the decisions up to the drug smugglers. We don’t want it up to the terrorists.  I’m taking it to you all - you all are the ones who can make a difference.  You’re good people, and you’ve been abused enough in here.”

Bulsworth also provided fellow protestors with the information they would need to call their government officials to make it clear to them that something needs to be done to curb illegal immigration in the United States. “If it doesn’t happen locally, it doesn’t happen,” she added.
