Canada jobs expo tempts young Irish graduates to new life

The previously successful Canada jobs fair known as the Working Abroad Expo is in town again, attracting the brightest and best with jobs in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Now showing at the RDS in Dublin, the exposition has already attracted thousands of jobless Irish youth determined to change their lives by migration to a new land. Canada’s matching determination to persuade Irish graduates to its shores was evidenced by the presence of Canadian Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, who arrived in Dublin to head up efforts to recruit workers for British Columbia, Manitoba and Calgary.

Accompanying him are a coterie of 40 employers from Calgary looking for workers in the oil and gas industry, healthcare, natural and applied sciences, finance and general business. Positions across all professions including engineering, healthcare including nursing, doctors and other heathcare professionals, geologists, architects and surveyors are on offer.

Business managers and hotel managers as well as a wide choice of speciality trades in the construction industry are on Canada wish list, with literally thousands of positions waiting to be filled. Upwards of 30 mainstream Canadian construction companies have sent representatives to the fair in an attempt to fill a shortage of skilled workers across Canada.
