Man battles for permanent residency to raise child in UK

In 2004 Mayra and Arnel Cabrera welcomed their first child into the world.  In a tragic mistake at the hospital the epidural was not administered properly and Mayra passed away shortly after the birth of their son Zac.  Now Arnel Cabrera is continuing his fight to stay in the United Kingdom to raise their son there.

A visa for Arnel was fast tracked through the system in about three days and it will allow him to stay in the country for another 6 months while he continues his immigration battle for permanent residency with the Home Office.  Letters of support for Arnel have been pouring in from all over and Barbara Follett the Equalities Minister has been meeting with Arnel regarding the matter.

Arnel said of the battle "It was heartbreaking to leave Zac, but what happens now plays a big part in our future together. It has been tough for me but I'm doing this to be able to start a new life for us both. I have to go through this first before anything else.  I can't start this new life without going through this application process. I have to think about the long-term future for Zac and myself.   I'm very glad to be back in the UK

Anne Snelgrove a South Swindon MP is putting her support behind Arnel.  Snelgrove said that she "will continue to fight for him to remain in Britain because he deserves to be here."
