More then 50% of Polish living in UK do not work
There are currently 800,000 polish immigrants who reside in the country of Britain of those more then half are made up of dependents who do hold a job or have to pay taxes to live there. The dependents for example spouses, off spring and grand parents in many cases are being supported through government programs for assisted living.
The dependents while bring provided for by the British government are also taking advantage of other government funded services such as education system as well as health care without helping to cover the expenses. A recent survey in Poland showed that this trend may only get worse for Britain as more families now then ever are deciding to pack up their belongings and emigrate to Britain. Warsaw’s Centre for international relations professor Krystyna Iglicka commented on the situation where more polish citizens are learning of the government assisted programs and trying to take advantage of them such as maternity grants, child benefits, child tax credits and education grants. She commented, “We have noted a marked change in the nature of polish emigration to Britain. Before it was mostly adults, now whole families are leaving.”
This rise in the popularity of emigrating from Poland to Britain is closely tied to the open door policy that the European Union nations share with one another. As both Britain and Poland are members, families from one nation can more to the other and take advantage of government programs. Within the last year Britain has seen the total number of government assistance increase by seventy two percent where the majority has been to polish claims.
