British Man Wanted in Connection With a Child Sex Inquiry Deported

Apparently a British man that was wanted in connection with a child sex inquiry has been deported back to the UK. This happened after the man was finally found at Hawke's Bay. This is a site that is popular with many children.

Apparently, Matthew Paul Hamilton, age 29, had been living illegally in New Zealand ever since 2008. He had first got into New Zealand on a one month visitor permit. However, after it lapsed he was able to evade emigration for nearly two years. He did this by supposedly moving around New Zealand. The last reported sighting of him was in Hastings.

A national alert was sent out last month for the man. Police then started to actively look for Mr Hamilton. He was finally arrested at a leisure activity in Hawke's Bay on July 1 after a detective followed a hunch that he might be there. Hamilton offered no kind of resistance and was arrested immediately. Police are refusing to name the leisure activity or say whether it was in Napier or Hastings where he was finally caught. Hamilton has since been identified as a person of interest in an international child exploitation investigation.

Apparently back in 2005, when living in Cambodia, he was charged with sex offenses against children and possessing child abuse images. He went on to deny these charges and was found not guilty. Apparently he had committed no offenses while he was in New Zealand.

Mr Hamilton has already been deported back to the UK. However, as of right now it is not yet known if he is facing any kind of charges in his home country or not.
