Emigration Raid Leads to Two Men Jumping Out of Window

It now seems that two men have been taken to a hospital after jumping out of a window during a raid by emigration officials. The UK Border Agency staff said that police searched a home in Balham High Road, south London, just shortly after 6am on Tuesday.

As the raid took place, two men jumped out of a window onto the roof of a three story building. This left the men with some minor injuries. Firefighters were called in to get the men off of the roof. A very busy road had to be shut down for more than an hour during the event.

Because of the raid, three Pakistani nationals were arrested. Two of them where picked up on suspicion of overstaying their visas and one on suspicion of illegally entering the UK. A UK Border Agency spokeswoman said that, during the operation, two individuals attempted to escape and suffered some minor injuries. Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after, and both men were taken to the hospital.

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said that two fire engines and a fire rescue unit also attended the event. They had to pull two people off the roof of a building that they jumped to in order to try and escape the UK Border Agency. She went on to say that the two men were rescued from the roof of a three story building. This was done using firefighter ladders.

The men were taken down and treated by the London Ambulance Service. A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said that the two men had been taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting.
