As many people already know, people will do whatever they can to try and sneak into the UK. This includes stuffing themselves into a refrigerated lorry and hoping that they get to the country without freezing to death.

Just recently, five British-bound illegal emigrants made a very desperate mobile phone call for help this week after becoming sealed in the back of a refrigerated lorry. Police in Calais began an urgent search for the lorry after one of the emigrants told emergency services a child was with them and was in danger of freezing to death.

The illegal emigrants finally managed to break out of the truck after several hours in temperatures as low as -25ÂșC. The group had boarded the frozen food lorry in Dunkirk, believing it was heading to the ferry port in Calais.

During the trip, the child fell unconscious due to the cold. One man made a frantic call to emergency services, begging them to find them. A fire service spokeswoman, who took the call from inside the lorry, said that they could hear the others banging on the sides of the lorry as the man was speaking. However, there was no guarantee that the driver could hear them.

The caller spoke in a mix of Afghan language and broken English. The emigrant who called could not identify the lorry and had no idea of its destination. Police then placed signs along northern French motorways, asking drivers to check their trailers for emigrants. Also motorcycle riders stopped refrigerated lorries around Calais.

A police spokesman said that the emigrants said, several hours after making the call, that they had succeeded in breaking out of the lorry. More than 1,000 emigrants have been found in the backs of refrigerated lorries in desperate bids to get into the UK.
