Emigration Boom Causes UK Population to Rise 3 Million

According to new stats, Britain saw a rise of over three million people. These same reports suggest that a majority of these people were emigrants. During the 13 years of the Labour party regime, some feel that emigration has been out of control. This is what led new Prime Minister David Cameron to promise a cap on non-EU emigration.

The majority of this increase, or about 70 percent, are emigrants, according to the Office for National Statistics. The population of Britain, at the present, is estimated at 61,398,000. This is 15,000 higher than the official estimate off 61,383,000. This includes over 1.5 million Indians, 740,000 Pakistanis and 280,000 Bangladeshi citizens.

Experts are of the opinion that the figures could be doubtful because of the failure to estimate how many emigrants came into the country illegally. Alan Green, from Migration Watch, said that these figures confirm the large influence of emigration on their population. Emigration will add over a million to the present population every five years.

Emigration Watch estimates that there are at least 1.1 million illegal emigrants in the country. The number of emigrants arriving in Britain increase by 3,084,200 since 1997. This has led experts to believe that the estimated population of 70 million could be reached well ahead of the current estimate of 2029.

The coalition government went on to said that there should be an annual limit on the number of non-EU economic emigrants that are admitted into the UK to live and work. The Labour party had a system which allowed highly qualified emigrants form outside the EU come to the UK.
