UK Now Home to Over 1 Million Illegal Emigrants

A brand new study from MigrationWatch now warns that figures are double government estimates. These figures show that more than 1 million illegal emigrants are currently living in Britain.

The recent report warns that a proposed amnesty for illegal emigrants could add a total of 2.2 million to the populations, because each of the 1.1 million illegals would be entitled to bring at least one spouse, child, or other family member into Britain as well.

The report is a direct challenge to Nick Clegg, who is the Liberal Democrat leader. He has proposed an amnesty for long term illegal residents who have been in the UK for more than 10 years. This study for MigrationWatch, which is a think tank that lobbies for stricter emigration controls, updates earlier studies from the Home Office and the mayor of London.

The study points out that the latest Home Office study was based on figures back in 2001. It also challenges the formula for calculating the number of people who overstay their visas every year. The report says that the number of people who over stay each year could be as much as 60,000 rather than the 10,000 implied by estimates. Just another sign that points to the fact that there are more illegal emigrants living in the UK than the government thinks are living in the country or at least cares to omit are living in the country.

The Labour's former welfare minister and co chairman of the parliamentary cross party group on balanced emigration, Frank Field, said that he welcomes the new findings. He said that there are some of the emigration figures that three main parties did not want published before the election and it shows the danger of the Liber Democrat's losing talk of offering amnesty.
